Birthday girl is 21 and in DC

Another adventure that I skipped was my birthday which was on December 18th. Jake surprised me with a trip to see Miami Heat (Lebron James, my boyfriend) play the Wizards in Washington DC. We left on my birthday which was a Saturday, super early in the morning. We arrived in Maryland and rented a car to take to DC. Traffic was NUTS, plus our plane was late so we didn't have as much time before the game as we had planned. Actually, we had no time at all. I got ready in the car and we went straight to the game. It was awesome. The Heat won (duh) in overtime by just 1 point. Great game.

There was this guy in the corner who was eating a 12 LB BURGER! The hamburger patty itself was something like 9 lbs, and the rest was a giant bun. It was disgusting. He was listening to techno music and just going to town on this thing. Demolishing it. And he wasn't even a big guy. Probably 185, 190 pounds is all he wieghed... and somehow he got through this thing. The deal was if he ate the entire thing before the buzzer at the end of the game, everyone in the stands could take their ticket stub and get a free burger and some local place. He sure did it and was happy as could be after. It was seriously amazing, although I did want to puke everytime they put him eating on the jumbo screen.
See what I mean?
Another super funny thing was the dance contest that they would do on timeouts and in between quarters. Lots of little kids getting in the isle and bustin' a move as well as plenty of drunk fat guys, but one stood out to us above all the others and he ended up winning the whole thing.

Good for you old man. Looks like you still have moves :)

The next day we spent just touring the city.

It was such a special birthday and a trip that I'll always remember. Now I've got to think of something just as cool for Jake's birthday! I love him. He's the sweetest.

Oops! I skipped Christmas.

I'm going to take a step back here and show some of our Christmas fun. It was our first Christmas together since we've been married and it was wonderful. We stayed at my parents house and the madness began at 6:15 am! We Shraders do it big, and we do it early. Here's a glimpse of Jake first thing in the morning wearing the adorable jammies his mom gave him the night before. A little embarrassed, he ran from me and the camera... but I was able to get his best side :)

A bit snug his jammies were, but super super funny, and he literally lit up when he opened them Christmas eve. My mom does Christmas eve jammies every year too. This year she decided to go with the boys favorite football teams.

Tuff, aren't they? baha

After opening presents and enjoying the best cinnamon rolls in the WORLD we headed over to Jake's fams house where we opened MORE presents. spppoooiled. Really though, we were. The boys played X box and had their annual foos ball tournament while us girls napped and watched Christmas movies.Once we got back to our place I was freezing so I put on Jake's silly jammies to warm up.

I LOVE them! and now they are mine :)

Christmas really was so wonderful. Jake especially had a fun one. He got an X box, new ski boots, new ski coat and pants, tires for Haru, and lots of clothes. I got LOTS of clothes, few pairs of shoes, perfume, lotions and a facial WOO!
I'm already looking forward to next year when we have little one celebrating with us.
Here's our little place decorated. All lit up and smelling like cinnamon

HALF WAY THERE!

Goodness I'm awful at updating this. I love checking out everyone else blog and it seems like most people update pretty frequently.. I'm just bad :(

So I hit my 20 week mark yesterday. Officially 5 months pregnant and half way there. Wow. It really seems weird to me that it's flying by. I figured that pregnancy would feel like forever. Maybe that's the last half when I'm super uncomfortable. eeesh.
I have my second trimester ultrasound in 2 weeks. WE ARE JUST DYING TO KNOW WHAT'S INSIDE ME! I convince myself that I'm having a girl one week and then I just KNOW that I'm having a boy the next. The truth is, I don't have a flippin idea and I am just so excited to put a he or a she to the it. Well... aaand to start looking at bedding, and nursery stuff, and everything else because a lot of things are gender specific. We did already score an awesome crib. My wonderful friend Nicole babysits for a gal who was getting rid of all of this absolutely gorgeous baby furniture. Soo we bought a crib, changing table and glider from her. It's beautiful and we saved a BUTT load. Well my parents saved. Since we got it all for what a new crib would cost they bought it all for us. Love them.

I never thought that I would get so excited about baby furniture but honestly, I'm more excited about this baby's crib than I was about my own bed (and my bed rocks!)
I'm ready to see it all together, but for now we have no where to start putting anything together. We are in our apartment until our lease is up in May. We are house hunting and we have been for about a month now just seeing what's out there, and what options we have.
Talk about stressful! and I'm addicted... everyday I jump online to see new listings. I need to just stop because we have a long time left in our lease so putting down an offer right now isn't even an option. I'm worried though because I'm going to be as big as a house when we do move and just be pretty much worthless because I won't be able to life crap. BUT that is what brothers are for, and between Jake and I, we have a few :)

A couple more complaints I have at the moment
- My back KILLS me and has for like 2 months now. Thank goodness for icy hot. I smell like it pretty much always.
- My Skin feels like sand paper and I wish I could take a metal scrub brush to it.
- Maternity clothes shopping is awful and hard and not fun at all.

On a happier note, a couple of things I love are that I'm feeling this baby move! and it's the size of a cantaloupe which is just cool.

I'm sickey and full of snot!

I've got the nasty sinus, throat, hacking cough cold. And my nose just has the runs so bad! ughhhhh

This is a product of about an hour.

Gross I just realized what this probably looks like, but the vaseling is for my raw nose ALRIGHT.

Jake's getting sickey too...

Six Months Down

We spent Thanksgiving break in Pheonix but I don't have pictures of that yet, so I am going to post all that fun later....
The Sunday we got home it was our official 6 month anniversery. Our day was pretty hectic so I didn't even realize until the next day. And my sweet Jake remembered too :) I was out with my girlfriend Ashley browsin the mall. I got a text from Jake saying that he's making dinner, I can't eat, and that I can't come home for a couple of hours. So Ash and I stopped my parents, said hi, and waited it out. Finally, I got the go ahead to return home. As I get to the door to our apartment, I notice two things... a scarf hanging from my wreath, and a women sitting at the top of the stairs, which is our doorstep. This has nothing to do with the evening, but was still hysterical to me. She likes to sit on our stairs, I think she must smoke or something? It's freezing though, and we're pretty sure she doesn't even live in our building. But she's always very nice and she insisted on helping me tie this scarf to blindfold me before I entered the apartment. haha

So I knocked (well my lady friend) knocked four times as directed. Jake answers the door and I immediatly notice the smell of a campfire inside the apartment. He takes my boots off and puts on my slippers and sits me down. He takes off the blind fold and I see our dining table moved in the middle of the living room, fireplace burning, soft Christmas music playing, candles, flowers, dinner setting for two, and my shabby man in a dinner jacket. TOTALLY ADORABLE. I know this is probably obnoxiously detailed, but I'm really trying to paint a pictures here.

Jake serves dinner in courses. First he brings out a very nice salad and a variety of dressing choices. Once we finished that, he then brings me mashed potatoes and gravy. He tells me though that he found a recipie online and that it was supposed to taste just like KFC's potatoes and gravy... hmmmm interesting right? oh it gets better.

Then he brings out what I can tell is what he's most excited about. He pulls a cookie sheet out of the oven and places two Rodeo burgers on my plate. I laughed so hard I almost fell out of my chair. I really thought I was coming home to a homecooked meal, but I knew that Jake pretty much just handles breakfast and thats about it. This was so much better because it's silly and it's him. Not only have I been begging him to take me to Burger King for a Rodeo burger for the last three weeks, he brought it home to me in style.

We ate our delicous meal and then we got comfy for the Santa Clause. The whole night was so precious and something I'll never forget I'm sure.

I took a few pictures but they're a little foggy because we about smoked out our apartment. We didn't think we had to clean out the chimney :)

Such a cute night, I had to share.

Dragontales and Matchbox Cars.

So I got married at 20 years old. Believe it or not I did have a 'Life Plan' and being married young wasn't exactly in it. The plan was to shoot for a ring when I was 24, 25. After I had gotten a degree, after I had done something super amazing like backpack through Europe or something. But those who know Jake know exactly why I did it. I had to snag him up while I could! He's the man, he knows it ;) I knew and I knew early that Jake had everything I wanted, but a couple of things stood out. First of all his silliness, I definitely married a goof. Secondly was his way with kiddos. You know how sometimes guys can be real timid with little kids? Like they feel like they will break them or something. Well Jake's not. He wrestles, throws them in the air, and is just super cute. I smile everytime I see him playing with my nephew, or with little cousins, even his younger brothers. Jake is going to be the BEST dad.
And guess what......

He's getting the chance to prove me right!
We're PREGNANT!!!!!

So here's the scoop. We found out in early Oct and we both were SHOCKED and I was Freakin out a little bit. After a couple of months of mentally preparing, We're pretty much ready to shout it to the world.
I had my very first ultrasound today and it was the wildest and coolest thing I have ever seen. My Dr. was hilarious. She first felt me up and told me how big my uterus was. Then she told me it was time to see this baby. She puts all this goop on my belly and touches me with the camera. We don't see anything. (I'm thinking to myself... If I've been sick for no reason I'm going to be pissed.) She pushes just a little bit harder, and there it is....and moving. 2 arms, 2 legs, a little spinal cord, a little jaw, everything. I wasn't expecting him to look like a little person yet, but he totally does. He just looks perfect and he's really INSIDE me! We could see his heart beating so fast, literally right out of his little chest.
Jake and I wished we could have filmed it and put it to music because it looked like this kiddo was just bustin a move. I'm nervous for when he gets bigger, he's just going to beat me up.
But I'm so excited to finally feel him move.
(I keep calling it a he. We won't find out it's sex for another month or so, but for now he sounds better than it.)
I'm ten, almost eleven weeks and not really showing much. Thankfully, I haven't even gained much yet, Maybe just a couple pounds is all.
(I'm sure I'll just die laughing at this statement later...)
According to thebump baby's about the size of a prune.
I'm finally to a point where I don't feel like yacking all day so that is a beautiful thing. It's nice not feeling like I've been run over multiple times. Not only was I feelin like poo, but I was a big fat brat to poor Jake. I think he's happy I'm feeling better too :)
anyway here's baby

and a proud Papa
