Oh How ONEderful

Yep, we had a birthday party at our house and I think it's safe to say that all the adults had just as much, if not a lot more, fun as our birthday boy. One of my girlfriends had a bridal shower the same weekend so we shared fathers day with Brody's birthday party and we had a ball. Here's my sweet... Can I still say, baby? He's looking like so much of a toddler to me lately. Acting like one too... which is a whole other post.

Happy Birthday my big boy. Love you so stinkin much.

And Then He Turned 1

I'm so full of emotions today. We walked into your room bright and early this morning when we heard you rustling around in your crib. We sang to you Happy Birthday, but unfortunately you weren't so thrilled (Dad's not much of a singer) but that's okay... we will try again next year.

One year ago, Brody, you changed my life forever. Although you came to us by surprise, you were the best decision we never made, and the biggest blessing in our lives. Your dad and I love being your parents. This past year we have grown so much, and I have learned so much about myself. I definitely know that being a mom isn't easy and that it leaves very little free time... but I've never felt so fulfilled than I have since you've graced us with your presence. I'm often tired, sure, but every single day, I wake up and I have a distinct purpose.. and that is to make you feel loved and happy and taken care of. My whole perspective on life has been different since you... forever changed. I realize now what a selfish person I was before. I love the person that I am becoming because of you. I know that the older your get and the more you grow, the more I grow right along with you. I may be many things in this life, but I will always be your mom and I'm so grateful for that. I love you so much little sweetheart. You mean the absolute world to me. Happy 1st birthday. You're such a big boy now.

This is the first time we met <3.

The Dark Knight

WE GOT A NEW CAR! and such a cute mom car, it is. For those who didn't have the privilege of knowing our previous vehicle... It was a little on the old side. Like 1998. No air conditioning, no radio, windows didn't roll down, & it pretty much coughed when we started it. Jake LOVED this car though. He bought it in high school and he's refereed to it as his 5th brother ever since. We are the type of people to humanize our cars. My little blue car is Neo and I've had him since high school also. Jake's old friends name was Haru (the great white Ninja). It was a sad day for all of us when we bid him farewell, but it was his time to go. I keep telling Jake that he is going to make some high school kid so thrilled, and I think it makes him feel a little bit better.
OUR NEW CAR is wonderful and Jake is excited about it as well. It was such a fun mothers day present. My sweet Grandma Pat passed away in March and she's the real reason we were able to buy such a great car. Bless her. I miss her. I wear her ring everyday.
We haven't thought of a clever name for our new rig yet. I think it'll be just like a baby name, when you hear it you just know and it sticks.

2008 Honda CR-V (It's not really New, just new to us!)

My Big Brother Tied the Knot

We road tripped down to Logan, UT --which is where I lived my freshman year of college-- I got to show Jake and Brod around Utah State's campus, which is insanely gorgeous, if you've never been there yourself... you should check her out. We got to visit some friends and then see my brother get sealed to his beautiful wife. He had his reception in Boise and it all turned out so cute and I could not be more thrilled for them!
